## How to do it

1. Set the bar on your upper traps as for a squat, with your elbows down and in so it stays tight.
2. Stand with your feet hip width or a little wider, toes slightly out, knees soft.
3. Push your hips back and lean forward until your chest is nearly parallel to the floor, back flat.
4. Drive your hips forward to stand tall.

## Key cues

- Hips back, back flat
- Soft knees, most of the move at the hips
- Shins close to vertical
- Squeeze your glutes at the top

## Common mistakes

- Rounding the spine instead of hinging at the hips
- Letting the bar roll forward on your back
- Bending the knees too much so it becomes a squat
- Going heavier than you can hinge with control

## Muscles worked

- Primary: Hamstrings, glutes and lower back
- Secondary: Adductors

## Equipment

Barbell and squat rack.
