# Seated Calf Raise (Machine)

> The seated calf raise is a machine exercise that trains your calves, mainly the soleus, with your knees bent.

## How to do it

1. Sit down and set the knee pad so it rests on your lower thighs.
2. Place the balls of your feet on the platform edge, about shoulder width apart, with your heels hanging off.
3. Lower your heels into a calf stretch without letting them touch down.
4. Raise your heels as high as you can and hold briefly.
5. Lower under control and repeat.

- Balls of the feet on the edge
- Full stretch at the bottom, no bounce
- Rise as high as you can and hold
- Sit tall with your hips on the seat

## Common mistakes

- Bouncing out of the bottom of the stretch
- Cutting the range short at the top
- Leaning forward or lifting your hips off the seat
- Setting the pad too far up or down your thighs
