# Straight Arm Pulldown (Cable)

> The cable straight-arm pulldown is a standing lat isolation that trains your lats by sweeping a bar down to your thighs.

## How to do it

1. Stand facing a high pulley with your feet shoulder width apart and your knees soft.
2. Hold the bar with an overhand grip about shoulder width and hinge forward slightly at the hips.
3. Start with your arms reaching up toward the pulley and your lats stretched.
4. Sweep the bar down in an arc to your thighs with straight arms.
5. Return slowly to the stretch.

- Arms straight, same soft bend throughout
- Torso still
- Shoulders down
- Sweep in an arc to the thighs

## Common mistakes

- Bending your elbows and turning it into a pushdown
- Swinging your torso to move the weight
- Shrugging your shoulders up
- Standing so upright the stretch disappears
