# Triceps Pushdown (Cable - Straight Bar)

> The straight-bar cable pushdown is a standing isolation exercise that trains your triceps.

## How to do it

1. Stand facing a high pulley with your feet shoulder width apart and take the bar with an overhand grip a little inside shoulder width.
2. Pin your elbows to your sides, bent to about a right angle, with the bar in front of your chest.
3. Push the bar straight down until your arms are fully extended.
4. Let the bar rise back slowly to the start.

- Elbows pinned and still
- Only your elbows move
- Back straight, torso still
- Push all the way down

## Common mistakes

- Arching your back or leaning too far forward
- Using so much weight that you rely on momentum
- Letting your elbows drift forward and flare
- Stopping short of full extension
