Hip Abduction (Cable)

A standing cable move where you sweep one leg out to the side against an ankle strap, training the muscles on the outside of your hip.

Cable · Abductors · Isolation

How to do it

  1. Attach an ankle strap to the low pulley and strap it to the inner ankle of the leg farther from the machine.
  2. Stand sideways to the machine with your feet together, holding something steady for balance if needed.
  3. Keep a slight bend in your standing leg and engage your core and glutes.
  4. Sweep the strapped leg out to the side, keeping it straight and your upper body still.
  5. Lower the leg back with control, finish your reps, then switch legs.
